The short version: Vocabeez has no user accounts and no servers. It doesn’t collect personal information, and it contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers. Everything you do in the app — your streaks, quiz scores, learned words, and reminder time — is stored only on your own device.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the Vocabeez app (“Vocabeez,” “the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use it. We designed Vocabeez to work without collecting your data. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. Vocabeez does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying details in order to learn.
The app does not include analytics or usage-tracking software, and it does not transmit information about you or your activity to us or to anyone else. Vocabeez does not require network access to function; its learning content is bundled inside the app itself.
Information stored on your device
To make the app useful, Vocabeez saves some information locally, using your device’s standard app storage. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. It includes:
- Your learning progress, such as words you’ve learned and the topics you’ve completed;
- Your quiz scores and related results;
- Your daily streak and a record of which days you completed a session;
- Whether you’ve finished the initial setup.
Because this data lives only on your device, it is removed when you delete the app. We have no way to access, recover, or restore it.
Notifications
If you choose a reminder time and grant notification permission, Vocabeez schedules a daily local notification on your device to encourage you to practice. These reminders are generated on your device — no reminder data is sent to a server. You can change or turn off notifications at any time in your device’s Settings → Notifications → Vocabeez, and you can decline the permission entirely when first asked.
Speech and audio
Vocabeez can read conversation lines aloud so you can hear words used in context. This uses your device’s built-in, on-device speech feature. Audio is produced locally on your device; no recordings are made, and nothing you hear is uploaded or shared.
No third-party services, ads, or analytics
Vocabeez does not integrate advertising networks, analytics services, or other third-party software development kits that would collect information about you. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we don’t collect it in the first place.
The one exception is the platform you use to download the app: Vocabeez is distributed through Apple’s App Store, and any download, purchase, or update is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive personally identifiable information from Apple through this process.
Data security
Because your information never leaves your device, its security is tied to the security of the device itself. We recommend protecting your device with a passcode or biometric lock and keeping your operating system up to date. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but keeping data on-device removes the risks that come with transmitting and storing it on external servers.
Children’s privacy
Vocabeez is a general-audience educational app and is suitable for learners of many ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us — although, by design, there is no such information for us to hold.
Your choices and rights
You are in full control of your information:
- Access and portability: your data is visible within the app on your device.
- Deletion: deleting the app permanently removes all locally stored progress.
- Notifications: you can grant, change, or revoke reminder permissions in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you additional rights over personal data. Since we do not collect or process personal data, there is no personal data for us to disclose, correct, or delete on your behalf.
Data retention
We do not retain your data, because we never receive it. Information stored on your device is kept there until you delete it or remove the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the app or for legal reasons. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and post the new version here. Significant changes will be reflected in an app update. Your continued use of Vocabeez after an update means you accept the revised policy.
